CAMERICH x SEMESTER Studio
At the 54th China International Furniture Fair (Shanghai) 2024, CAMERICH and SEMESTER Studio unveil their latest collaboration: The Travelling Warehouse. More than a pavilion, it’s a bold, immersive experience that redefines how we engage with furniture design—offering a rare behind-the-scenes look into the creative and industrial soul of CAMERICH.
Inspired by the brand’s R&D workshops, the exhibit transforms raw industrial elements—factory lights, timber panels, recycled upholstery fabric—into an interactive, semi-enclosed warehouse space. Eight central “stages,” illuminated by adjustable lighting typically used in CAMERICH factories, spotlight new products with theatrical flair. Unboxing sessions occur every ten minutes, adding rhythm and movement to the visitor experience.
Driven by a zero-waste philosophy, over 98% of the materials used in the pavilion are repurposed from CAMERICH’s production lines and will return to its campuses after the fair. This sustainable mindset extends from the exhibit design to the products themselves, including the modular TOASTER series, the elegantly minimal TANGO chair, and the space-enhancing ISLAND bed.
Designed in partnership with Harvard-founded SEMESTER Studio, this installation follows their acclaimed 2023 “Temporary Storage Garden” and continues CAMERICH’s exploration of sustainable, human-centered design. The pavilion’s printed program—crafted from recyclable kraft paper and silver ink—mirrors the eco-conscious materials throughout.
The Travelling Warehouse is not just an exhibition; it’s a living, breathing statement of intent. It reflects CAMERICH’s vision for the future of design: mobile, mindful, and deeply rooted in craft, community, and consciousness.
